Summary:
Assist the head coach in overseeing and supervising the Colville Junior High School Cheerleading Program, teaching basic and advanced skills to the cheerleading team, and creating a positive environment for all students. This position is responsible for providing instructional leadership, conducting routines, and ensuring compliance with WIAA Interscholastic Rules and Regulations. The role is seasonal, extending through the winter sports season, and it is an extra-curricular position that lasts for one year.
Essential Duties:
- Teaching and coaching basic and advanced skills to cheerleading team participants, with focus on safety guidelines at all times, and incorporating and promoting a positive environment for all students while adhering to the WIAA Interscholastic Rules and Regulations.
- Work as a positive and collaborative member of the Activity/Athletic Program to foster the primary goals of Colville Junior High School and the Activity/Athletic Program.
- Help arrange for tryout system to be used, judges, practice, ballots, tests, etc.
- Supervise assignments for athletic events.
- Help monitor spirit signs and make sure they are appropriate in content. Be responsible for the placement and removal of signs.
- Approve all cheers and ensure they are positive in nature.
- Help plan the budget, keep it balanced, and supervise and organize moneymaking events.
- Seek growth as a coach by attending camps, clinics, and pursuing other opportunities to learn current trends and teaching techniques in cheerleading.
- Run a vigorous and well-organized practice with a specific practice schedule, which includes specific objectives and goals for each day’s practice.
- Have a current first aid card with a copy on file with Athletic Director.
- Utilize Final Forms to ensure athletic eligibility. Carry with you, at all times, medical information/waiver forms and medical first aid kit.
- Enforce the no food or drink in the gym/locker rooms. Supervise cleanliness of all facilities.
- Fill out and turn in an accident report form for all accidents within 24 hours to the Junior High School Office.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Governor Inslee’s proclamation 21-14.1 requires all employees working for Colville School District to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain a religious or medical exemption.
- Two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- A favorable reporting of a state and national background check is required.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts as needed.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Teaching certificate and/or appropriate endorsements for the job assignment preferred.
- Valid first aid/CPR card on file with the Activities Director, and attend a HIV/Hepatitis B seminar on a yearly basis and have it recorded on file with the Colville School District office.
- Current documentation on file that is required for the coaches standards and education program.
- A favorable reporting of a state and national background fingerprint check is required.
