Summary

Colville School District is now accepting applications for an on-site Occupational Therapist (OT) beginning with the 2026-27 school year. This position offers a flexible schedule of up to 1-2 days per week. The Occupational Therapist provides services to students with disabilities, ages 3 to 22, in order for students to benefit from their program of special education instruction. 

 

Essential Duties

  • Conduct Occupational Therapy evaluations to determine program (Special Education/504) eligibility.
  • Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services as specified in each students’ Individual Education Program (IEP) plan.
  • Input evaluation results in district electronic platform (IEP Online).
  • Consult with teachers, school administration, parents and others, as appropriate, regarding students’ physical, motor and sensory development.
  • Consult with school staff, administration and parents in improving students’ motor and sensory-motor functioning.
  • Collaborate with school staff and/or parents in developing, implementing, evaluating and maintaining occupational therapy interventions.
  • Consult and collaborating with medical and other community providers, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the delivery of occupational therapy services with classroom teachers, special education staff and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students.
  • Assess the motor, visual-motor and sensory-motor functioning of students referred for special education evaluation. Help determine the need for occupational therapy services.
  • Maintain an accurate record of therapy sessions, consultations, and other pertinent activities.
  • Directly supervise a COTA or paraeducator, if applicable.
  • Responsible for and monitor of the proper fit, use, and adjustment of specialized equipment.
  • Perform duties at multiple work sites including tele-therapy for the purpose of providing direct therapy interventions and assistance as required.
  • Respond to inquiries (e.g., parents, teachers, staff, students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and referral.
  • Function as a member of the special education team in providing special education services to students with disabilities by:
    • Attending training sessions, conferences, seminars, department and district meetings.
    • Serving on District committees, task forces, work groups, etc., as requested.
    • Keeping abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Appropriate Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Occupational Therapist from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Washington Occupational Therapist (OT) license required.
  • OSPI issued Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate – School Occupational Therapist, or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Maintain current First Aid/CPR Card or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Three years experience in Occupational Therapy preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with direct experience in school setting and/or with school aged children.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the principals, practices and ethical standards of Occupational Therapy; relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable district policies and procedures.
  • Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with students, parents and other educational professionals regarding student concerns and problems.
  • Ability to consult with school personnel in developing and implementing effective occupational therapy interventions for students.
  • Ability to transport self between and among school sites throughout the District, and to students’ homes, as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and assurance of confidentiality standards.
  • Basic computer literacy – word processing, data entry.
