#2526-0000 Paraeducator Substitute

The District is seeking to fill Substitute Paraeducators  to work with student(s) in class, outside the class/building, PE, and all other school settings. Performs various instructional tasks and strategies in and outside the classrooms to assist certified staff by performing the following duties in working with students individually or in small/large groups or structured settings. Duties may include instructional support for students needing behavior control, working with students individually or in small/large groups or structured settings, potentially performing 1:1 paraeducator work, behavior interventions with high-risk students and/or children with developmental delays and occupational or physical therapy support.  Will perform required academic tasks/skills (reading, language, mathematics) and operate word-processing/computer equipment.  Previous experience working with children with significant developmental delays and proficiency in ABA methodology is preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of child development and special needs of disabled children.
  • Demonstrates ability to model and monitor appropriate student behavior
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect between students, parents and teachers
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting high preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children with significant disabilities is preferred.
  • Evidence of an interest in supporting learning experiences, with the ability to learn and perform the essential duties.
  • Ability to get along with students, staff, and the public.
  • Skills, ability and commitment to perform Parent-Designated Adult (PDA) activities to include administering diabetes care such as carbohydrate calculations, administering insulin, and communicating information to parent/caregiver, and implementing Individual Healthcare Plans for medical concerns under the supervision of the school nurse.

 

Education/Training:

  • Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Be at least eighteen years of age
  • Provide proof of High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current First Aid/CPR Card or willingness to obtain promptly
  • HIV/Hepatitis Bloodborne Pathogen trained or willingness to be promptly

$16.66/hour
