Summary:
The Colville School District is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Tennis Coach for the 2025-2026 school year. This role involves assisting the Head Tennis Coach in teaching and coaching both fundamental and advanced tennis skills to individuals or groups of high school girls for grades 9-12, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all student-athletes during practices and matches, and ensuring compliance with WIAA Interscholastic Rules and Regulations. Extracurricular positions are for one year only.
Essential Duties:
- Assist the High School Girls Tennis program grades 9-12, ensuring that program goals and objectives are being met.
- Collaborate positively with the Colville School District athletic staff and the Head Tennis Coach to support the mission of the athletics program, Colville High School, and the Colville School District.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes self-esteem, strong values, and lifelong learning for all student-athletes.
- Be a positive role model for young people to emulate. Model high standards of morality, integrity, character, and sportsmanship. Be principled and beyond reproach ethically.
- Prepare program goals and objectives plus philosophical guidelines to Activities Director.
- Complete annual WIAA Rules clinic.
- Evaluate players in early season assignment of teams and/or cuts.
- Run a vigorous and well-organized practice with a specific practice schedule, which includes specific objectives and goals for each day’s practice.
- Work with High School Athletic Director to minimize lost class time.
- Supervise locker room before, during, and after all practices and games. Ensure no student-athletes are unsupervised in the locker room.
- Coordinate with High School Athletic Director on all transportation needs and requests. School bus pick-up and drop-off will be at the front of the school by the main office.
- Maintain discipline on all bus trips and athletic events.
- Ensure that all student-athletes have transportation home after practices or games. Once the last student has left the campus, lock and secure all doors.
- Collect and complete all eligibility information and checklist and turn in to High School Athletic Director prior to the first day of practice.
- Maintain a current First-Aid/CPR certification and ensure a copy is on file with the Athletic Director.
- Carry Medical Information/Waiver forms and a Medical First Aid kit at all times.
- Distribute and collect all equipment and uniforms. Maintain accurate inventory records of pre-season and post-season inventory and submit them to the Athletic Director on a specified date.
- Complete and submit accident report forms for all accidents within 24 hours to the High School Office.
- Represent Colville High School and the Colville School District with professionalism and sportsmanship at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment:
- Outdoor environment, walking various play field terrains with typical athletic activity noise level.
- Use of technology, i.e., keyboarding, when applicable.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will usually work in outside weather conditions.
Qualification Requirements:
- Two to four years relevant coaching experience and/or training preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret procedures or regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts as needed.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Teaching certificate and/or appropriate endorsements for the job assignment preferred.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification on file with the Athletic Director.
- Current documentation on file that is required for the coaches standards and education program.
- A favorable reporting of a state and national fingerprint background check is required.
