Summary

Colville School District is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist for leave coverage from March 16, 2026 through June 12, 2026. This position is part-time, scheduled for 3 days per week, 8 hours per day, for a total of 33 workdays. The assignment follows the school year calendar.  

 

Essential Duties

  • Provides educational related communication intervention for students in a variety of settings as appropriate. Specifically, the developmental preschool and Transitional Kindergarten programs.
  • Provide diagnostic and direct services for students with speech, language and hearing deficits in cooperation with other staff members, parents, and the public.
  • Conduct formal assessment of speech and language skills for all referred students, complete required reports according to timelines, develop appropriate individual programs and attend weekly team meetings.
  • Provide consultant service to classroom teachers and other school personnel.
  • Participate in staff development activities.
  • Provide speech and language services based on evaluation, planned goals-objectives, and maintain electronic and hard copy records of student progress.
  • Work as a positive and collaborative member of the Colville School District staff to foster the primary goals of the District and Student Support Services Department.
  • Function as a member of the special education team in providing special education services to students with disabilities by:
    • Attending training sessions, conferences, seminars, department and district meetings.
    • Serving on District committees, task forces, work groups, etc., as requested.
    • Keeping abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Valid speech-language pathologist license from the Washington State Department of Health, or valid ESA license from OSPI.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of learning and behavioral needs of students.
  • Demonstrated successful experience at implementing in-class service delivery training collaboration/consultation skills and providing direct educationally related services in areas of speech and language.
  • Demonstrated competency of instructional skills in a teaching climate which is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency.
  • Experience and /or training in deaf/hearing impaired education is desired.
  • Experience and /or training with cultural, ethnic, language and hearing diversity is desired.
  • Maintain current First Aid/CPR Card or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Three years experience in Speech Therapy preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with direct experience in school setting and/or with school aged children.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the principals, practices and ethical standards of Speech Pathology; relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable district policies and procedures.
  • Must have knowledge and experience using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with students, parents and other educational professionals regarding student concerns and problems.
  • Ability to consult with school personnel in developing and implementing effective speech therapy interventions for students.
  • Ability to transport self between and among school sites throughout the District, and to students’ homes, as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and assurance of confidentiality standards.
  • Basic computer literacy – word processing, data entry.
