Summary

Colville School District is now accepting applications for an Interim Extended School Year (ESY) Program Teacher this summer.  The position starts in June and ends in July. The candidate will need to possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate and Special Education Endorsement. The candidate is responsible for implementing and evaluating aspects of the student’s individualized educational plan and/or Continuous Learning Plan for the extended school year. Job responsibilities include development of students’ ESY schedules, lesson delivery, and data tracking, which includes student progress data. This position is up to 4 hours per day, schedule is dependent on student needs. Monday through Thursday 8:00 AM to 12 PM.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises programs for children with high needs.
  • Emphasis on social skills, communication, written language, and oral language.
  • Provides for individual differences in learning needs of students.
  • Provides a classroom climate that is based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency.
  • Demonstrates competency in instructional skills.
  • Evaluates in terms of planned goals and revises instruction as a result of the evaluation.
  • Informs students/parents/guardians of their progress in terms of objectives set for the ESY course of study.
  • Interacts positively with students, staff, and patrons of the school district.
  • Performs job-related, non-teaching duties.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Valid Washington State teaching certification with a Special Education Endorsement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with parents and to clearly articulate school programs and Washington State Learning Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to decision-making in collaboration with administrators, other staff members, and the parent community.
  • English, reading and mathematical skills and reasoning ability, along with demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods in reading, math, and English.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the four essential teaching behaviors of assessment, evaluation, planning, and instruction to deliver quality programs for all students.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective classroom management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledge and experience using technology in the delivery of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to analyze instructional practices through regular and ongoing observations and dialogues associated with mentoring and coaching.
  • A favorable report of a state and national fingerprint background check is required.
