Summary
Colville School District is now accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) 7th Grade English Language Arts Teacher at Colville Junior High School for the 2026-2027 school year. The candidate will need to possess a valid Washington state teaching certificate and an academic background appropriate to the subject area or grade level. The candidate is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of learning experiences for students in cooperation with other staff members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a positive and collaborative member of the school staff to support the primary goals of Colville Junior High School, with a focus on planning, implementing, and evaluating a variety of learning experiences for students.
- Participate in weekly grade-level planning meetings and professional learning community (PLC) collaborations.
- Deliver effective instruction and assessment aligned with the Washington State Learning Standards and the District Curriculum goals for Junior High grade levels.
- Develop both long- and short-range instructional plans for assigned subject areas.
- Address individual learning needs and differences of students.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of subject matter in classroom instruction.
- Foster a classroom climate built on mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency.
- Exhibit proficiency in instructional skills.
- Evaluate instruction based on established goals and revise teaching approaches as needed according to evaluation results.
- Inform students of their progress in relation to learning objectives set for the lessons or courses of study.
- Interact positively with students, colleagues, and school district patrons.
- Perform job-related, non-teaching duties as assigned.
- Supervise student teachers, teacher assistants, tutors, and volunteers when applicable.
- Manage student discipline and attendance issues effectively.
- Participate actively in staff development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Employment is contingent upon clearance by the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
- Must hold a valid Washington State teaching certificate and meet all other Professional Educator Standards Board (PESB) certification and assignment requirements for the position. Multiple endorsements preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver effective instruction and assessment aligned with the Common Core and District Curriculum goals.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective classroom management.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Possess knowledge and experience in using technology to deliver curriculum and instruction.
- Previous experience teaching Junior High School English classes.
- A favorable report from a state and national fingerprint background check is required.
Salary & Benefits
This position is part of the Colville Education Association (CEA) Teachers’ Bargaining Unit.
